About The Island

Who is Moloch?

Moloch is the ancient Canaanite deity of sacrifice — the god to whom children were offered in exchange for prosperity, power, and victory. In The Island, Moloch serves as a satirical lens through which we examine the sacrifices demanded by modern political and economic systems.

The comics explore how contemporary institutions — financial systems, electoral politics, military-industrial complexes, surveillance capitalism — mirror the ancient logic of Moloch: demanding sacrifice from the many to benefit the few.

The Comics

The Island publishes dark satirical comics that don't pull punches. Some are funny. Some are disturbing. Some are both. Comics tagged "Dark" contain content that may be particularly intense — these are gated behind a content warning.

Comics are organized into Story Arcs — narrative threads that explore specific themes or storylines. You can read in storyline order (following the arc's intended sequence) or chronological order (by publication date).

Community

Readers can comment on comics using their "witness protection" handle — a permanent, randomly-assigned pseudonym that keeps you anonymous while giving you a consistent identity in the community. Your handle is assigned on your first comment and never changes.

You can also vote on story arcs to signal which storylines you want to see continued. Sign in with your email to participate.
